First Year Experience Mentor, Colorado College, 2004-2006
Colorado College has a peer mentor program for incoming first year students. I mentored for three first year classes during my junior and senior years.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with professors to determine my role as mentor for
- Calculus and the Liberal Arts (two years)
- Introduction to African Studies
- Provide academic support, including
- Tutoring single variable calculus
- Reading papers and providing feedback
- Maintaining office hours
- Provide social support, including
- Referring students to various campus offices
- Organizing social events such as
- Movie nights
- Dinners
- Ice cream trips
- Supermarket trips
- Something else…
- Driving for field trips
